December 18 Noel Allen Participates in Panel Discussion on Auditor Ethics

Noel Allen participated in a panel discussion on ethics in the certified professional accountant profession at Baruch University’s 12th annual Ensuring Integrity conference. His focus included current ethics topics facing auditors, such as the obligation to report violations to regulators.

 

November 2 Noel Allen Presents on Blockchain and Bitcoins

Noel Allen presented to the annual meeting of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy on the legal implications of the rise of blockchain technology, including an examination of recent state laws passed encouraging and regulating blockchain technology, bitcoins, and smart contracts. He also presented on case law addressing disputes on these issues.

 

September 15 Brenner Allen* Presents on Brexit and Data Protection Regulation

Allen & Pinnix attorney Brenner Allen* presented to the annual meeting of the International Business Law Consortium regarding the potential impact of Brexit on data protection regulation in the United Kingdom, as well as implications for lawyers advising non-U.K. based clients on legal compliance.

 

August 15 Noel Allen Recognized by Best Lawyers in America

Allen & Pinnix attorney Noel Allen has been recognized as a 2018 Best Lawyer in America for administrative/regulatory law and antitrust law. Noel was also selected as the 2018 Raleigh Administrative/Regulatory Law Best Lawyer in America "Lawyer of the Year." Only one lawyer in each community is recognized with this honor each year.

June 21 Nathan Standley Presents at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Discipline Case Management Conference

Allen & Pinnix attorney Nathan Standley gave a presentation titled Antitrust and Regulatory Boards:  Where Do We Go from Here? at the annual National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Discipline Case Management Conference. His talk included a high-level overview of the legislation and litigation that has resulted from the Supreme Court’s opinion in the North Carolina Dental Board v. Federal Trade Commission case, as well as an overview of how state boards can manage antitrust risk going forward.
